BA- English (Literature), May 2002

This is my second year at DCHS and my 14 in the field of education. I taught in Gwinnett County Schools for my first 7 years, leaving to work on my PhD. in Language and Literacy at Georgia State University. I then taught in the College of Education at Georgia State, but I missed working with young adults, so I returned to the classroom.

I have a husband, John, and two daughters, Gigi and Scout, fill my heart and days, along with out cat, Rogue, and a goofy dog, Shadow. In my free time, I love an adventure-- traveling, hiking, attending concerts and museums, meeting new people, and swapping stories with friends. Reading is also an important part of my life, and I try (with varied success) to always have something new to read. More than any activity, though, I simply love learning.

I was born in Arizona, but Georgia has been home most of my life. I am married with two daughters, one 3 and one 7 years old. I have always loved teaching, especially literature, which I especially enjoy sharing and discussing with others. When I'm not teaching, planning, or grading, I enjoy going on adventures with my family, enjoying live music, being surrounded by nature and art, or simply curling up with a good story.
