This is my 18th year as a teacher at Douglas County High.

Welcome to school year 2016.

My name is Marvalane Ivey and this is my 24th year as a Science Teacher.  This is my eighteenth year at Douglas County High School.  I also taught six years as a part time Science Teacher for Home School groups.  In my career I have taught Chemistry, Physical Science, Biology, Zoology, Environmental Science, Human Anatomy and Earth Science.

I am happily married and have three children.  I am a lifetime resident of Georgia and have lived in the Atlanta area for the past 31 years.  I enjoy family vacations to the beach and mountains.  I enjoy outdoor activities such as gardening, bike riding, bird watching, swimming, and spending time enjoying all of nature and its wonders.  I also enjoy taking care of our family pets.  I have four cats, two birds, one tortoise, one rabbit, several frogs, and one hamster.  Some of these pets live at my home and some live in the classroom.

Other interesting facts about me are:  I love to shop.  My favorite color is red.  My favorite food is chocolate!  I hate being late.  I enjoy challenging high school students to reach their potential.
