Miss Balcomb graduated from Emma Sansom High School located in Gadsden, Alabama.  She received her Bachelor's of Science in Education with a concentration in Math and Biology from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama.


Miss Balcomb began her career at Jacksonville State University as a teaching assistant; she served in this part time position for three years.  She was hired and employed by Anniston High School in Anniston, Alabama for the next three years.  Miss Balcomb then made the move from small town life to the Metro-Atlanta area.  She worked for the DeKalb County School System for five years (serving as a teacher, mentor, and lead teacher for the county) before moving to Douglas County in the fall of 2006.  She worked at Yeager Middle School for 1 year.  This is her eleventh year at DCHS.


Rebecca Balcomb was born in LaFayette, Georgia but raised in Gadsden, Alabama.   Teaching has been her lifelong dream; she hopes to pass on her love for learning to her students.  She will be teaching Algebra 1, Geometry, and Study Skills for the 2017- 2018 school year.
