Experience

I have been in education for 10 years.  I began my career at Cedar Grove High School in DeKalb County as a special education paraprofessional and assistant basketball coach.  From there, I moved to Cross Keys High School in Atlanta, Ga, where I taught all subjects collaboratively.  I also served as the head girls basketball coach. In addition, I have experience teaching self-contained students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders at Swainsboro Middle School, where I taught for 1 year before returning back to Douglasville and taking the job at Turner Middle school. I was a member of the TMS staff for 8 years teaching resource math and serving as the Boys Head Basketball coach for 4 years and the Girls Head basketball coach for 1 year. This will be my first year at DCHS and I look forward to being apart of a wonderful learning community.

Bio

I grew up in Swainsboro Georgia, where I was a member of the 1996 State Championship Basketball team.  I was a McDonalds All-American (honorable mention) athlete and attended Truett McConnell and the University of West Georgia on basketball scholarships.  I love teaching, and I love to see students make progress and show what they are capable of. I'm married to Deanna Richards and we have four wonderful children; Jamiya Richards, James Richards, Jada Richards, and Christian Richards
